When a baby’s ready, she’ll come regardless of mom and dad’s plans. A Chicago woman did her best to get herself to the delivery room according to the Associated Press, she just didn’t make it. Melissa Jones’ daughter was born in her mom’s minivan—in the parking lot of the hospital.

Jones began having contractions when she was at her job as a restaurant cashier. After making sure one more customer got his milkshake she called fiance Marcus Ross. Ross put their four children into the minivan with the intention of giving them to his mother once they all reached Northwestern’s Prentice Women’s Hospital. But as the family pulled into the hospital parking lot, it became clear they wouldn’t be making it to the emergency room. Her water broke shortly before she and Ross made it to the hospital complex.

Doctors and nurses attended the mom while she was in the front seat of the car. The four children and dad witnessed their new baby sister being born, which was incredibly quick. The proud parents think this means their little girl is off to a running start:

Jones expects that her daughter — 6-pound-8-ounce Mariah Faith Ross — will be an unstoppable child because of the way she came into the world.
